Automatisieren Sie zuerst das Langweilige

Wo ein kleines Team mit Automatisierung anfangen sollte – und wo nicht.

Automation sounds like a project for large companies with IT departments. In practice, the best candidates are the small, repetitive tasks every team does and nobody enjoys.

A simple test

Look for tasks that are frequent, rule-based and low-risk if something goes wrong. Copying an enquiry from email into a spreadsheet passes the test. Deciding which client to prioritise does not.

Good first candidates

  • Capturing every enquiry — form, email, booking — in one place, automatically.
  • Sending a confirmation and next steps the moment someone gets in touch.
  • Reminders before appointments, and a follow-up after.
  • A weekly summary of new enquiries and where they came from.

None of these needs custom software. Most can be built by connecting tools you already pay for.

What not to automate yet

Anything that depends on judgement, tone or a relationship: replies to complaints, proposals, pricing decisions. Automate the preparation around them, not the conversation itself.

Measure the hours, not the tools

Before you start, estimate how many hours a week each task takes. After a month, check again. If the number hasn't moved, the automation is a toy. If it has, you've bought back time for the work that actually grows the business.
